The Charleston Club was born from a lifelong love of this community and the simple joy of bringing people together. As a longtime Lee's Summit resident, our founder has spent years pouring into the place she's proud to call home — through the school district, the Rotary Club, the Chamber of Commerce, and so many organizations close to her heart.

About the Owner
Hi there, I'm Laura Maxwell. As a longtime Lee’s Summit resident, I’ve spent my life investing in the community I’m proud to call home. I loved being part of the Lee’s Summit School District during my educational career, and I’ve enjoyed years of involvement with community organizations including: The Rotary Club of Lee’s Summit, LS Chamber of Commerce, Optimist Club, Eastland Giving Circle, John Knox Village Foundation, and Legacy for LS Parks Foundation.
I’ve always had a passion for bringing people together and building meaningful connections, and Mahjong has given me a new and fun way to do just that. I love teaching others to play, watching new friendships form around the table, and creating a welcoming space where people can learn, laugh, and connect.
Through The Charleston Club, I hope to bring people together over a shared love of American Mahjong while also supporting Madison Social Charcuterie and the small businesses that make our downtown Lee’s Summit corridor such a vibrant and special place. Whether you're picking up your tiles for the very first time, building your confidence through guided play, joining us for open play, or attending one of our special events, there’s a seat at the table for you!
